About Cadman Plaza, Brooklyn
Cadman Plaza is a gorgeous park situated between Brooklyn Height’s historic neighborhood and Downtown Brooklyn. The name “Cadman” was taken from Reverend Doctor Samuel Parkes Cadman, who was a minister in the Brooklyn Congregational Church. There are two memorials located in Cadman Plaza: the Gaynor Memorial and the World War II Memorial. The Gaynor Memorial is dedicated to New York City’s mayor from 1910 to 1913, William Jay Gaynor. On the other hand, the World War II Memorial is devoted to the 11,000 Brooklynites who fought during the Second World War.
Aside from Cadman’s beautiful scenery and grand memorials, there are a handful of restaurants, shops, and interesting structures near the area. If you are looking for some good eats, try strolling through Montague Street. But if visiting churches are more of your thing, the doors of St. Ann’s Church and Our Lady of Lebanon Maronite Catholic are always open.
