About Jamaica Estates, Queens
Jamaica Estates is located in the Queens borough and is known as an upper middle class neighborhood. It was created by the Jamaica Estates Corporation in 1907. It used to be a hilly area, but after its development, it turned into a residential space with many of its original trees being preserved.
There are two points of interests in Jamaica Estates. The first would be the Jamaica Estates World War II Memorial, which commemorates the fallen soldiers of that war, and the Jamaica Estates Historical Plaque. Jamaica Estates may not be a tourist’s go-to neighborhood, but a couple of notable individuals do live (or have lived) in the area. These include blind bebop pianist and teacher, Lennie Tristano, and Joseph “Run” Simmons from the Run-D.M.C group.
